Adam's Cards

Here are 2 cards I made for my son's birthday in January. I always feel a bit jaded having spend most of November and December making Christmas cards and need some inspiration to get me going in the new year. I made the card featuring the man's face using card and ribbon taken from the one of my daughters Christmas  presents. I tried printing on tissue paper for the first time and it worked really well.

The other card was an idea for using tags from February's Craft Stamper magazine, very easy.

Never ending card

Never ending card made on the WEA's spring card making course. The course tutor was Angela Cutting. The card looks complicated but was very easy to make and is a good card to post as it lies  flat.

Mens card

I needed to make 2 cards for birthdays this week one of which needed to be fairly flat as it had to go in the post. I bought this stamp after seeing it using in the March addition of the Craft Stamper magazine. I followed the instructions fairly closely and it worked really well.

Bird Card

I always find men's cards harder to design than women's but I found my new Paper Artsy Hot Picks stamp was ideal for men's card, particularly if they're interested in bird watching. The background was made using white, green and blue acyclic paint over stamped with the grass stamp, highlighted with glossy accents.

girl on bicycle 2

This is a variation on the Girl on Bicycle card. I changed the colour scheme and moved the flourish. I struggled a bit with both cards as they didn't fit into an envelope,  so I presented  the first one in a brown craft box and the second  in the acetate box that my Sizzix die came in, distressed with alcohol inks.

Girl on Bicycle

This is a card I made for a special card making friend’s birthday. I used ideas from the Craft Stamper magazine which is the only card making magazine I buy. I used an Indigo Blue stamp which I bought recently and am very pleased with and the flower and flourish were made using the Tim Holtz Tattered Floral and Elegant Flourishes dies. The background was a technique from Craft Stamper using strips of old book pages and music scores cover with watered down gesso and coloured with distress ink.

Cards using speical papers

I thought for my first post I’d show some cards I’ve made using papers designed by my son who is a 2nd year textile student. It was quite difficult trying to resist the temptation to over embellish the cards and to leave the papers to speak for themselves.
